June 29, 2018Plants can be a blessing and a curse when it comes to animal control. There are a few different ways that this situation can go. Let’s take a look at some of the different ways that animal control can be affected by plants.
What Animals Like
Animals are interesting in that they like some things and hate other things. This is the same when it comes to specific plants as well. One of the things that animals love is evergreen type trees. This is because they have pinecones, which contain seeds and is very nutritious for young animals. Similarly, vegetables such as tomatoes are very attractive to these kinds of animals as well. With this being said, there are quite a few things that they do not like as well.
What Animals Don’t Like
Animals, from research, have been known to not necessarily love pungent plants and vegetables. This being said, animals like deer really do not like aromatic herbs, such as sage, thyme, and basil. In terms of vegetables, animals typically really dislike things such as onions, garlic, chives, leeks, and scallion. This is because the smell is so strong that they do not want to go ahead and eat the veggies and herbs. Similarly, they do not like wormwood, so it may be smart to plant those near your vegetables.
