A squirrel in Boston that looks dangerous

Fall provides a new beginning for everyone – both humans and animals. During fall, the children get back to school, and you are likely to start digging out clothing for the cold season in a few months.

Surprisingly, animals also prepare for winter. They use fall to prepare where they will stay when the temperature begins to fall and also store food. As your house will be cozy, these animals or pests will take your house as solace and get in using any opening they can get.

Let’s find out how you can get them out before they cause damage.

Mice

Mice start their movement early. As soon as they smell fall, they start planning to move indoors to seek shelter and food. During this time, you will begin to hear their activity in the walls and attic of your home as they look for food.

To keep them out, make sure you clean up food sources and close all gaps and cracks from the exterior of your home. Note that mice smell food easily, and even the tiniest of holes is enough to let them in.

Raccoons

Raccoons are larger than mice and cause a much bigger problem if not dealt with in time. They can use their paws to climb the roof and get into the house. Raccoons are also nocturnal animals, so they source for food at night.

They can live in the attic and get a means of entering your home if they smell food and an opening to get in. You should employ a professional’s services to help you spot their presence in the house, chase them away, and block all their entries.

Squirrels

Squirrels, although smaller than raccoons, can also cause havoc in your home. They are wiry rodents, and your attic is the best area as their breeding ground, especially during summer and spring. And in fall, they take it for shelter. Should they find nesting areas on your roof, then you will have unwanted tenants in the house.

Squirrels chew a lot and can cause a lot of damage to wires and wood, leading to costly repairs.

Conclusion

Whenever you discover the presence of rodents or pests in your home, you should reach out to Baystate Wildlife Management. They are the best around and have the experience as well as the expertise to remove these pests. Protect your family from heavy repairs and diseases as these pests can sometimes be infected.
